Wellness in Aged Care
At de Fiddes wellness is of great importance. So much so it is one of our trends for this year! Within our team there are those of us who love to exercise. We have runners, bush walkers, yoga enthusiasts, sun seekers and ocean bathers. What wellness looks like in aged care is a little different. Traditional exercise and gyms may not be accessible. So other types of wellness need to be explored and mental wellness needs to be prioritized.
That’s where Sound Therapy may be an option. Sound therapies can include a range of possibilities including some alternative therapies such as singing bowls for relaxation.
One wellness tool that caught our eye is the DreamPad Pillow.
The DreamPad uses safe bone conduction technology that creates gentle vibrations that are translated into sound that only audible by the person using the DreamPad, this is because the DreamPad doesn’t make any sound at all.
Bone conduction works by converting the sounds into a type of vibration that travels through solid material to your inner ear. As a result the vibrational sounds stimulate the vagus nerve, which in turn activates the parasympathetic nervous system. From laying down on the pillow a calming effect is produced.
Which means that at any point relaxation can be achieved by simply laying down. That sounds pretty good to me!
