Algorithm Art – Images into Sound-Absorbing Wall Art!

Often as designers we are met with many site challenges. Spatial, visual and or acoustic all need to be met by many elements to create a cohesive space. Along comes TURF Design who have created Scanlines a new algorithmic system that takes the concept of converting image into sound to a whole new level.

Adding a tactile element, TURF Designs new system can translate any image into sound-absorbing PET felt panels rendered as dimensional wall art. The secret to their success is through TURF’s proprietary algorithm, a system programmed to measure the intensity of colour shades within an image and convert it into a quantified degree of depth that is turned into acoustic PET felt to different depths.

The results speak for themselves! The beautiful designs are not merely aesthetic but have a combination of acoustic properties inherent of PET felt and the varying widths of the ‘scan lines’ which act as a sound absorbing surface, reducing echo and reverberation. The panels offer amazing visuals while absorbing unwanted noise and increasing overall perceived space of the room.

An amazing new technology with endless possibilities in both commercial and residential spaces!
