A camera-free, non-wearable AI device that saves lives!

Australia has a rapidly increasing ageing population with expectations of longer independent living. As care providers seek to improve the liveliness and well-being of residents, it becomes challenging to find solutions to safety concerns and issues.

One area which is fast evolving is Artificial Intelligence (AI).

Home Guardian, an AI device playing a vital role in keeping our growing older generation supported and connected. Designed to relieve the anxiety of leaving loved ones who are at risk of incidents and falls unattended, Home Guardian have introduced a camera-free non-wearable AI device. Unobtrusively monitors residents at all hours, it provides real time alerts to staff and family members when an incident occurs.

The discreet device which monitors via an optical sensor, maintaining dignity and privacy (discussed in depth here) has recently also been updated to monitor for COVID – 19 symptoms in response to the pandemic along with other flu – like illnesses.

With Home Guardian reporting 30% of adults over 65 experiencing at least one fall per year and the major reason for admissions into aged care as a result of a traumatic incident such as a fall, this device will assist our ageing population to live independently for as long as possible.
