Specialist Dementia Care Unit | Sunshine North, vICTORIA
Drawing on de Fiddes’s consultancy expertise in living environments for older people, VMCH refurbished an existing memory support unit at St Bernadette’s facility to create a Specialist Dementia Care Unit for residents living with behavioural psychological symptoms of dementia (BPSD). The delivery of specialised care in an expertly designed and furnished environment focuses on stabilising and reducing the person’s symptoms over time so they can transition to a less intensive care setting. De Fiddes also delivered several key resident centric design services; including specialist interior design and documentation; furnishing and accessorising elements that were integral to the project’s success.
We are proud to announce that we have been shortlisted for the DIA (Designers Institute of Australia) Designers Australia Award for our work with VMCH St Bernadette’s! We are very proud and excited to be selected and look forward to the winners being announced in August.
de Fiddes recently won ‘Best Dementia Care Design Project (APAC)’, for Villa Maria Catholic Homes-St Bernadette. This was in the category of, ‘Leading Experts in Aged Care Interior Design - Australia, at the the 2022 Build Home & Garden Awards.
