de Fiddes Team News: Busy Avoiding Burnout & Over-Stimulation
In the last two months we have done a little of everything! We have watched Perth Arts performances, Fringe shows and danced the night away to Motown. Some of us went to Bali, others to Melbourne, Malaysia and many trips down south. Between us we have sold a house, celebrated Birthdays, stayed in hotels, completed audits, had meetings, designed and designed some more. It is safe to say we have hit the ground running!
With so much going on, we asked the de Fiddes team what they do to avoid burnout due to over-stimulation and how they manage their energy output. Read their answers below:
Deb: I think people do different things depending on their make up. For me the way to avoid burnout is to do regular Yin Yoga, bit of breath work, swimming and have a long weekend away every few months. Consistency is the key 😊
Kat: If I really need to chill out and relax, or feel really stressed, I go to the beach just to sit with feet and hands in the sand. This helps me to let go and be grounded. I always feel so much better when I am near the ocean… Walking early in the morning also helps me to feel good and enjoy the beauty of the river and appreciate how lucky I am to live so close to the water.
Christine: Sometime I like to take a walk along the beach or go for a long drive and listen to some music. I actually do a lot of thinking and processing while I’m driving! Sometimes I need to go out with friends – I have found it’s important to spend time with friends and family to re-energise. I can get burnt out when I am focusing on too much of the same thing day in and day out so it’s important for me to have a work/ life balance and have a bit of variety in life. =)
Sam: I go for walks in nature and do yoga, meditation and breathwork to relax.
Vanessa: When I need to relax, I clean the house, walk Otis or settle down to read a good book with a glass of wine.
Mollie: I get to water. Ideally the ocean, or a relaxing shower. If I can’t do either of those, it’s sunshine. I’ll be outside on a day bed, headphones in with a glass of wine. If I am really overwhelmed I meet some of my girlfriends and we go paint pottery together.
